A middle aged man as well as customer of First Bank Ahoada branch has collapsed in a queue-up inside the bank hall Tuesday, in Ahoada East Local Government Area, Rivers State.
Mr. Promise Ario Ochia a native of Erema Community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area slumped and broke his head after a long standing in the queue. The victim was said to laid on the floor of the bank over 30 minutes before one of the officials of the bank who refused to mention his name ordered the security guards to evacuate the motionless body of Ochia.
The bank official declined comment when our correspondent interviewed him. An eyewitness who simply gave his name as Chief Jeremiah Okpo said that Mr. Ochia alongside other customers have stood for more than four hours, but the lines continue to prolong, until the man thudded to the ground, scaring others. Other customers who spoke to our correspondent blamed the incident on the slow pace of work by the bank’s staff.
The customers who were unhappy mood said one staff alone operates three computers on different tables thereby making work unsmooth and delay the customers.
They further called other commercial banks to extend their branches to Ahoada; stressing that Ahoada is peaceful and business is booming in the area. It was gathered that a relative of the comatose victim picked him up to one of the hospitals at Ahoada for treatment.
