Ihedioha vs Uzodinma Judgement: The True Manifestation Of The Movement From Change to Next Level

The Apex Court recently annulled the Imo state Gubernatorial election that saw Mr. Emeka Ihedioha as the Governor of Imo State, and order the electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to confirm senator Hope Uzodinma as the legitimate winner of the 2019 gubernatorial election held in Imo State.

Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun said “with the results from the 388 polling units added, Mr Ihedioha polled a majority of the lawful votes and ought to have to be declared the winner of the elections by INEC”.

“Votes due to the appellants senator, Hope Uzodinma and the APC 388 were wrongly excluded from scores ascribed to the appellants,”she said.

Meanwhile, lower Court’s decision;
the court of Appeal on November,19 had affiremed the victory of the Mr.Ihedioha as the governor of Imo state.

It is important to recall that INEC who declared Mr. Ihedioha a winner of the gubernatorial election held in Imo State last year said “Mr Emeka Ihedioha polled 273,404 ahead of his closet rival and candidate of Action Alliance, Uche Nwosu who scored 198,364 votes while the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA candidate, Ifeanyi Ararume, came third of Hope Uzodinma of All Progressive Congress, APC”.

But what some Nigerians still find it difficult to understand over the judgements is,how can someone come from behind (fourth position) to takes first position? Even though 388 polling units was wrongly added to Mr Ihedioha to become a governor. What about the case of AAC and APGA candidate that came out second and third position, does that mean 388 polling units was shared between the three candidates?

This judgement needless serve as a shock to any body, by now, we should have been familiar with the mirage “change” and “next level” promised by the APC. What happened in Ekiti, Osun and Kogi should have sent unambiguously and concise messages to all Nigerians that yes! we are in the era of change.

It is worthy of note that the National APC chairman, Adams Oshiomole said that “if you join us, your sin will be forgiven” imagine! A statement for deep reflection. In spite public outcry over the disappointing statement, the manifestation of the reality is still apparent and undeniable.

If I may ask; what is the difference between APC from their counterpart PDP?

To some sentimental and callous folks, anything that come from this administration is undoubtedly good and worth embracing, because their relatives are of them, but remember that sooner ot later they might not be there tomorrow to wet your throat.

Sadly, when APC and their principals emerge on the political scene in 2015 and they proclaimed their slogan is “change” and I asked myself, what kind of change does these people kept their lips on every second? Not knowing that they’re preparing for the real change.

What moral conscience does PDP governor’s and faithfuls have to comment on this judgement when they laid the solid foundation threatening our democracy. It is expected of them to remain calm over this ugly development because during their reign they were using governmental absolutism in collecting people’s mandate and in effect transfer to their members. Today, same thing is repeating itself at the corridors of power now. However, when would Nigerians change from worst to good?

We cannot expect our judiciary and lawmakers to dish out their best to the commoners while they are obviously working for their overlord. They dictate what is going out and coming in. It is an incontestable fact that the Chief Justice of Nigeria, The Senate and Speaker are representing the interest of the Executive and not the interest of Nigerians.

Mr. Ahmad Lawan said “anything from president is good” even though, if the president decides to sale Nigeria today it is a believed to be good. Where is that legislative power to check mate the activities of executive? Indeed our country need a political and socio-economic overhul.

I will advise any PDP governor who have any pending case in Court should start preparing his belonging from the government house because what happened to Mr.Ihedioha is a wake up call to other governors like Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambwal and to Engineer Musa Wada who was openly raped of his mandate with the hope of gaining justice from the Judiciary. What transpired in the Supreme Court recently is a shining pointer to what awaits you. I urge you not to go to court with Governor, Yahaya Bello because you won’t win anything, rather, you end up waisting your time and energy.
