The sudden death of His Royal Highness, Eze Innocent Odum, Eze Igbu Ugbobi 1 in the late hours of Thursday 24th of July,2020 is a great loss not only to his immediate family and Igbu Ugbobi, but to the entire Ekpeye Ethnic Nation. Members of the Eze Ekpeye Logbo In-Council were deeply touched when the news of his death was announced.
It was shocking, considering that the monarch showed love to all and exhibited a good understanding on the emerging new Ekpeye where the focus is driven by selflessness.
Beside his good works, the late monarch lived a remarkable life, retained a humble and unassuming mien as an unbiased leader.
The late monarch was a bridge builder, an amiable personality who was at home with all. The vacuum created by his death would be difficult to fill in a very long time. The late Eze Igbu Ugbobi was a liberal personality, he built friendship across the length and breadth of Ekpeye land and beyond. Sincerely, he will be most remembered for his selfless and patriotic efforts in ensuring a fair and just society.
Ekpeye people will miss his articulate and constructive views. His posture for the oneness of Ekpeye particularly, his positive participation in the build up to the peace across communities can not be overemphasized. However, we take solace in the fact that he lived an accomplished life.
The Council express its deepest condolence to his immediate family, the Akala-Olu community, Ugbobi Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs and the good people of Igbu Ugbobi. The Council pray God to grant his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and, and a blissful rest to the deceased.
